In terms of the Statistics on those actively insured and the Statistics on the rehabilitation services of the German Annuity
From 1 January 2005 the statutory pension insurance (SPI) is divided into two insurance organizations:
the general pension insurance and the miners' pension insurance.
The statutory pension insurance is realised by independent public corporate bodies, the so-callend "Rentenversicherungsträger" or pension fund organizations.
On 1 October 2005 a reorganisation of the insurance organizations took place because of an organizational reform of the statutory pension insurance. The responsibilities of the statutory pension insurance are currently fulfilled by 14 regional organizations and two federal organizations.
The name of the regional organizations consists of the term "Deutsche Rentenversicherung" (German pension insurance) and an addition for their respective regional authority. Special responsibility regulations (§ 128 SGB VI) decide, which regional organization keeps the insurance account.
Federal supporting organizations are the Germany Annuity Insurance Federation and the German pension insurance miners-railway-sea. Until 31 December 2004 it was divided into three insurance organizations:
- the statutory pension insurance for manual workers,
- the statutory pension insurance for salaried employees and
- the miners' pension insurance.
