Data from the reference date (December, 31) of the respective year.
On 1 January 2009, a reform of the law of rent subsidy with performance improvements for the recipients of rent subsidy came into effect.
Since 2005 there is no special rent subsidy ("besonderer Mietzuschuss") any more. The special rent subsidy was a rent subsidy for recipients of social welfare and war victim welfare. The acceptable housing costs of the recipients of these transfer benefits are since then taken into account within the respective social welfare benefits. Reported are only pure rent subsidy households (no mixed households).
¹⁾The results have been calculated without Lower Saxony due to difficulties in data processing.
