• The primary prevention of infectious diseases by vaccination was introduced to the benefits catalogue of the statutory health insurance as a standard benefit in 2007 by the SHI competition empowerment act ("GKV-Wettbewerbs-Stärkungsgesetz"). Previously vaccinations were only voluntary statute benefits of the health insurances. The Federal Joint Committee ("Gemeinsamer Bundesausschuss") has decided a directive about immunization, which regulates the type and scale of benefits for immunization based on the recommendation of the German Standing Vaccination Committee (STIKO) at the Robert Koch Institute. In this table the standard immunizations according to the recommendations of the STIKO are reported.
