. The crime codes 111100, 111200, 111300, 111400, 111500 and 112000 will be abolished as from 2018; the crime codes 111700, 111800 and 111900 have been newly added.
Until 2005, the keys for mapping human trafficking were listed under the key 14400. The new keys (236000, 237000, 238000) were only implemented in the second half of 2005. Therefore, a comparison with the values of the reporting year 2005 is not appropriate. In 2017, the new key 239000 human trafficking was implemented. For technical reasons, the keys 236000, 237000 and 238000 were still valid for recording until 31 December 2017. Due to different technical implementations in the federal Länder, the area of crime was recorded under either the new or the old keys. Thus a comparison with the values of previous reporting years is impossible.
With th "Fiftieth Amendment to the Criminal Code - Improvement of the protection of sexual self-determination" of 04 November 2016, the law governing sexual offences has been amended by new criminal offences and existing criminal offences were modified. In the Police Criminal Statistics (PCS) catalogue of offences first implementations took place as early as 2017. Further modifications will take effect in the PCS catalogue 2018. The consequence of this is that the comparison of offences against the sexual self-determination with the previous years is not possible or only possible to a limited extent.
From 1987 to 1990 the figures are for the Federal Republic of Germany prior to the reunification; from 1991 to 1992, the statistics also cover Berlin and beginning in 1993 the statistics cover the territory of the entire Federal Republic of Germany (after reunification).
Crime code: Bavaria is not included in the crime codes 141000 to 141200, 144000 to 144200 in 1998; Bavaria, Baden-Wurttemberg, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate are not included in the crime code 655100 in 1999; Bavaria is not included in the crime codes 111400, 111500, 131300 to 131800 in 1999 and 2000 neither in the codes 232100 to 232300 from 1999 to 2001, neither in the code 213200 in 2002.
