• The number of benefit days respectively benefit cases per 100 members of the Statutory Health Insurance is based on own calculations of the Federal Health Monitoring: Benefit days/cases divided by the annual average number of members of the Statutory Health Insurance of the respective group of insured persons, multiplied with 100.
• The group of peope obligatorily insured in the Statutory Health Insurance who are out of work covers recipients of unemployment benefit I ("Arbeitslosengeld I"), unemployment benefit II ("Arbeitslosengeld II") and maintenance payments (until including 2004 recipients of unemployment assistance ("Arbeitslosenhilfe") or maintenance ("Unterhaltsgeld") and recipients of unemployment subsidy ("Arbeitslosenbeihilfe").
• The trade guild health insurance also have health insurance extensions in the new German Länder; in the earlier territory of the Federal Republic of Germany there are no extensions to the trade guild health insurances.
• The company health insurances also include those of the German Rail, the German Postal System, the Federal Ministry of Transport and the health insurance extensions, in the new German Länder; in the earlier territory of the Federal Republic of Germany there are no extensions to the company health insurances.
• Members of the Statutory Health Insurance (SHI) are persons insured in the SHI excluding jointly insured family members.
