• The company health insurance institutions also include those of the German Rail, the German Postal System, the Federal Ministry of Transport and the health insurance extensions in the new German Länder (former GDR); in the earlier territory of the Federal Republic of Germany there are no extensions to the company health insurances.
• The trade guild health insurances also have health insurance extensions in the new German Länder; in the earlier territory of the Federal Republic of Germany there are no extensions to the trade guild health insurances.
• Persons insured in the Statutory Health Insurance (SHI) include members of the SHI and jointly insured family members.
• The complete exemption from additional payments was achieved by the GKV Modernization Act on January 1st 2004 abolished.
