Founder of new business
In terms of the Statistics on those actively insured of the German Annuity Insurance Federation:
Starting from 1 January 2003 persons are compulsory insured in
the statutory pension insurance according
to § 2 Satz 1 Nr. 10 SGB, if they
get a subsidy for setting up business from the agency of labour.
These are persons, who finish their unemployment by taking up a self-employed activity. Due to the
Fünfte Gesetz zur Änderung des Dritten Buches Sozialgesetzbuch and other laws from
22 December 2005
the start of the first assistance of a self-employed activity via a subsidy for setting up business was limited to the
30 June 2006. Starting from 1 July 2006
this scheme only applies, if the claim of assistance had existed before that day.
The subsidy for setting up business will be paid up to three years and is each time granted at the longest for one year.
The compulsory insurance as founder of a new business exists for the length of the payment of subsidy for setting up business
- at the longest until 30 June 2009 - and overrides the compulsory insurance of other regulations for the self-employed.
