Habilitation
In terms of the University statistics of the Federal Statistical Office:The habilitation is an academic examination and represents the proof of ability for research and science in a special subject or field. The admission for habilitation requires a doctor's degree and in general a scientific activity of several years. Universities with the right to award doctorates have the right to award habilitations. For persons who attained the habilitation, beside the field also data about age and sex, nationality, nature of practicing the profession as well as functional and organizational affiliation are recorded.
