Nursing care level 0
According to the Federal Ministry of Health:
Persons with a permanent significant limitation in everday life competence, who have a need for assistance in the
field of basic nursing and household assistance, but who do not yet fulfill the requirements for the qualification into
the nursing care level 1, are entitled to get an amount paid for care of 100 or 200 Euro per month starting
from 1 July 2008. This is the so-called nursing care level 0 ("Pflegestufe 0").
In addition, further benefit improvements were introduced by the care realignment law
("Pflege-Neuausrichtungs-Gesetz") especially for people suffering from dementia:
Starting from 1 January 2013 until a new nursing care terminology
is applied they receive more and - with the household assistance - even more targeted services. So, in the
so-called "nursing care level 0" there is for the first time an entitlement of nursing allowance or non-cash nursing benefits.
In addition, in the so-called "nursing care level 0" an entitlement to temporary care when the care person is not
available ("Verhinderungspflege") as well as nursing aids and grants
for measures for the improvement of the individual residential environment are introduced.
