Occupational disease, Berufskrankheiten
In terms of the Statutory Accident Insurance in Germany:Occupational diseases are diseases, which the federal government on the basis of Section 9, Paragraph 1 SGB VII, by an ordinance, with agreement of the Federal Council of Germany has named as occupational diseases and which persons insured suffer because of the exercise of an insured activity. The list of occupational diseases is updated regularly. In addition, Section 9, paragraph 2 SGB VII enables in individual cases the recognition and compensation of a disease, which is not in the occupational disease list, like an occupational disease as far as the requirements for designation as an occupational disease are on hand because of new findings in medical science (opening clause).
