Generic drugs
In terms of the German Drug Index of the AOK Research Institute:
Generic drugs are pharmaceuticals with off-patent agents, which are brought to market in the classical form with the international
non-proprietary name (INN). Equatable to them are the so-called branded generics, which offer the off-patent agents under a new trade name.
Editor's note: Generic drugs are copies of pharmaceuticals which are already available on the market under a brand name.
They contain identical agents.
