Child deliveries and births
In terms of the Hospital statistics of the Federal Statistical Office:The term "child deliveries" refers to women, who have given birth in hospital in the reporting year, independent of the number of children born. Women, who gave birth via forceps delivery, vacuum extraction delivery or caesarian section as well as women with complications of childbirths are listed below the total number of births. Puerperal complications are defined according to diagnosis code 085 to 092 of the ICD-10. Women treated because of a miscarriage (stillbirths under 1,000g respectively, starting from 1 April 1994 stillbirths under 500g) are recorded separately. Legal abortions are not included.
Finally, the number of children born in hospitals, including the number of children born alive or still is recorded in the Hospital statistics.
