Facility practitioners
In terms of the Hospital statistics of the Federal Statistical Office:Facility practitioners include all practitioners with fixed employment in the facility. Guests, consultants and practitioners in job-shadowing are not included. Private bed allocation practitioners as well as doctors employed by private bed allocation practitioners are included in "Off-site practitioners". Practitioners are differentiated info chief consultants, senior physicians as well as assistant physicians. Chief consultants include all facility practitioners with a chief physician contract as well as practitioners as owner of concessionary private clinics. Dentists and up to and including 30 September 2003 also medical practitioners in practical trainings ("Ärzte im Praktikum'") are reported only for information. They are not included in the sum of facility practitioners. Starting from 1 October 2004 there are no longer medical practitioners in practical trainings ("Ärzte im Praktikum'") (Art. 1 des Gesetzes zur Änderung der Bundesärzteordnung und anderer Gesetze vom 21 July 2004, BGBl. I S. 1,776). Starting from 2004 they are no longer included in the effective day value (31 December). As far as these employees are further employed in the hospital, they are classified according to their activity. If they are kept for example as (assistant) physicians and if they have no further qualification, they are reported as "assistant practitioners without further qualification" or "assistant practitioners in a first further qualification". The practitioners are classified, as far as they have a certified further qualification, by their specialization. Practitioners with several specializations are classified by their mainly practised activity. Practitioners with specialization ("Schwerpunkt") (for example vascular surgery) are counted in the statistics according to the field (for example surgery). Practitioners without or in a first further training can not be assigned to a field and are reported separately.
