Accident insurance institutions
In terms of the Statutory Accident Insurance in Germany:The institutions of the statutory accident insurance include the employers' liability insurance associations ("gewerbliche Berufsgenossenschaften") and the agricultural employers' liability insurance associations ("landwirtschaftliche Berufsgenossenschaften") as well as the accident insurance institutions of the public sector (accident insurances and municipal accident insurance associations, the fire fighters' accident insurances, the railway accident insurances as well as the accident insurance "Post und Telecom" and the federal accident insurance ("Unfallkasse des Bundes").
On 1 June 2007 the Central Federation of the employers' liability insurance associations (Hauptverband der gewerblichen Berufsgenossenschaften - HVBG) and the Federal Association of Accident Insurances (Bundesverband der Unfallkassen) merged to the German Statutory Accident Insurance (Deutsche Gesetzliche Unfallversicherung - DGUV). In addition, the agricultural employers' liability insurance associations continue to exist with their own umbrella organisation.
