Accidents at home and in the leisure time

In terms of the Representative Data of Accident Occurrence at Home and in Leisure Time of the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health:

  • The accident must be happen either in the household or its direct surroundings, especially in gardens, yards and garages, or during leisure time activities and sports activities. Home and leisure time accidents include also accidents in public transport, which happen during leisure time as well as accidents with bicycles, if no other transport was involved in the accident (dissociation to other accident categories).
  • The accident made necessary a medical treatment or led to an at least 14-day impairment (dissociation to a bagatelle accident). The accident occurred within the last three months before the interview (clear temporal framework as requisite for the calculation of accident rates and projections).
