Artists/publicists
In terms of the Statistics on those actively insured of the German Annuity Insurance:Self-employed artists and publicists are compulsorily insured according to the artists social insurance law ("Künstlersozialversicherungsgesetz" - § 2 Satz 1 Nr. 5 SGB VI). According to this there is a compulsory insurance, if the artist's and journalist's activity is practiced professionally and not only temporarily and if related with this activity no more than one employee is engaged. "Artists" include all persons, who create, practice or teach music, performing arts or graphic arts. "Publicists" include authors, journalists and persons who in other ways act as publicists or teach journalism.
