Avoidable deaths
Avoidable deaths is a term used for deaths, which could have been prevented with adequate disease prevention and therapy. There are a number of competing approaches to the definition of avoidable deaths. The following definition is based essentially on the concept of the council of experts for the concerted action in the health services (Sachverständigenrat für die Konzertierte Aktion im Gesundheitswesen). According to this specific causes of death in certain age groups are considered as avoidable. The avoidable deaths are indicated per 100,000 inhabitants.
