In terms of the Statistics on those actively insured of the German Annuity Insurance Federation:
Since 1 April 1995, a compulsory insurance in the statutory pension insurance exists according to § 3 Satz 1 Nr. 1a SGB VI for persons during the period, in which they non-professionally care for a person in need of care in his homely environment at least 14 hours weekly in the sense of § 14 SGB XI, if the person in need of care is entitled to benefits from the social or private nursing care insurance.
