Crohn's disease

In terms of the cost-of-illness accounts of the Federal Statistical Office:
Crohn's disease is a chronic inflammation of the intestine. Not only the mucous membrane of the intestine, but the whole intestine wall may be affected. This results not only in the formation of ulcers, but also in constrictions (stenoses) with a widening of the intestine in front of these constrictions.
