Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG)
In terms of the Diagnosis Related Groups ("Fallpauschalenbezogene Krankenhausstatistik", diagnoses and procedures of full-time patients in hospitals) of the Federal Statistical Office:Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG), is an economic medical-patient classification system, where the hospital cases, based on their diagnoses and treatments are classified in case groups, which are valued according to the necessary economical expenditure for treatment. The DRGs differ in their clinical contents and use of resources and build the basis for financing, budgeting and billing of hospital services. Relevant is the valid G-DRG classification system in the current reporting year with the corresponding diagnosis and procedure keys.
