Income deduction

In terms of the Statistics on people entering retirement of the German Annuity Insurance Federation:
Income of beneficiaries, which concurs with a pension because of death, must be taken into account when the pension is calculated. 40 percent of the income, which exceeds the amount of exemption, must be deducted. For specific deaths, which happened at the latest up to 31 December 1995, there are different transitional regulations for the income deduction. These transitional regulations do not necessarily apply to specific beneficiaries in the New Länder.
