In terms of the Numerical report (private health insurance) of the Association of Private Health Insurance Companies:
Insurance benefits include benefit payouts to persons insured and claim settlement expenditure. However, not all insurance benefits can be settled in the year, in which the insurance case occurred. For this purpose claim settlement reserves are built. Expenditures which occur in the processing of benefits claims are referred to as claim settlement expenditures.
