In terms of the Federal Medical Registry of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians:Every medical practitioner is a member of an association of statutory health insurance physicians, which pays the fees to the members based on the total remuneration provided by the health insurance funds. If a medical practitioner wants to set up an own practice under contract to the statutory health insurance, it is only possible within an open planning district ("offener Planungsbereich").
