Since 1 January 2009 there is a general obligation of insurance in Germany. At this point the base tariff was introduced, into which all uninsured person who are assigned to the private health insurance must be accepted on application. All persons insured in the modified standard tariff were transferred into the base tariff, the modified standard tariff was afterwards closed.
