Ornithosis

Ornithosis (also known as parrot disease or psittacosis) is caused by bacteria of the species chlamydia psittaci. The bacteria, which are long-lasting in bird excrements and secretion are assimilated via inhaling. A direct transmission from human to human probably doesn't occur. The clinical picture is varied and can affect almost every organ. Predominant is a feverish pneumonia. In addition, headache, muscle and joint pain, enlargement of the liver and inflammation of the heart, brain and conjunctiva can occur.
