In terms of the Federal Medical Registry of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians:
Participating medical practitioners (complete name: medical practitioners under contract to the statutory health insurance) are medical practitioners, who are allowed to perform outpatient treatment for patients of the statutory health insurance funds. These are medical practitioners with their own practice, partner medical practitioners, employed medical practitioners and authorized medical practitioners ("ermächtigte Ärzte").
