Persons insured

In terms of the Statistics on those actively insured of the German Annuity Insurance Federation:
The persons insured not drawing pensions of the statutory pension insurance are structured into persons actively insured and persons inactively insured.
Actively insured are those persons, who are compulsory insured and who gain their entitlement by the payment of contributions respectively if contributions for them are considered as paid (contributor) as well as persons, who currently fulfil reckonable years. Everyone who has gained an entitlement in the past but does not yet draw a pension is considered an inactively insured person. The "inactively insured persons" include especially the persons with latent insurance, i.e. the persons, who have neither on the reporting date nor during the reporting year a contribution or an inactive period. Latently insured are mainly persons, who effectively do not pay contributions to the statutory pension insurance any more, for example housewives, civil servants and self-employed, who have previously paid contributions.
