Private households

In terms of the Microcensus of the Federal Statistical Office:
Private households are designated as any group of persons living together and constituting an economic unit as well as those who live and manage the household alone (for example single subtenant). Related and non-related persons may equally belong to the household (for example house staff). Communal and establishment accommodation are not taken as households, but may shelter private households (for example household of the head of an institution). Households with several domiciles may be counted several times under circumstances. The number of households does not conform with that of the families since double counts among the households can occur. It also has to be observed that several families can also constitute a household.
