Query fever
In terms of the Notifiable Infectious Diseases - data collection by Robert Koch Institute:Query or Q fever is caused by the bacterium coxiella burnetii, which colonize infected cells. Ticks play an important role in the infection cycle of animals in forests and fields. Transmission to humans takes place mainly by air via dried excrements (especially birth products) of infected pets and farm animals as well as sheep shearing contaminated with infected tick faeces. In about half of the cases there is a flu-like illness, which can be complicated by inflammation of the lung, liver, heart muscle or brain. Chronic forms (mainly inflammations of the heart valves) can also occur.
