Scale of medical fees

A contractual agreement or ministerial decree covering rules for the evaluation of services (particularly freelance services). There are three scales of fees for medical services: the valuation scale for practitioners (BMA - Bewertungsmaßstab Ärzte) and substitute private health insurance institutions (EGO - Ersatzkassengebührenordnung) are combined to a uniform valuation scale (EBM - Einheitlicher Bewertungsmaßstab) which gives a number of points for each service. The accounts of private patients are coupled to the scale of fees for practitioners (GOÄ - Gebührenordnung für Ärzte). For dental services, the valuation scale for dentists affiliated to the health service (Bema - Bewertungsmaßstab für kassenzahnärztliche Leistungen) applies, or the scale of fees for dentists (GOZ - Gebührenordnung für Zahnärzte) treating private patients.
