Shigellosis

In terms of the Notifiable Infectious Diseases - data collection by Robert Koch Institute:
T he worldwide spread shigellosis is an intestine disease, which is caused by bacteria of the genus shigella and is associated with watery to bloody diarrhoeas, abdominal cramping and fever. A seldom complication is the haemolytic-uraemic syndrome. The transmission is mainly faecal-oral from human to human, but also via polluted drinking water and food.
