Special charges in hospitals

In terms of the health report for Germany, 1998:
charges for hospital treatment incurred for certain complex services in a case of treatment. The special charges contain the costs arising in the operating theater, including the costs of implantation and transplants as well as the laboratory and medication costs insofar as these are typical for the service in each case. They are billed in addition to the departmental healthcare rates, which are the same each day and are reduced to a fixed rate in order to avoid double charging.
