Standard tariff

In terms of the Numerical Report from the Association of Private Health Insurance Companies:
The standard tariff, that is uniform for all private health insurance companies, was introduced in 1994. The services are based on the level of the statutory health insurance, the contribution is limited to the (average) maximum contribution of the statutory health insurance as of 1 January of the previous year. The standard tariff can be chosen by persons, who have contracted their private health insurance before 2009, who have been privately fully insured for at least 10 years and who have reached a specific minimum age or who are recipients of a statutory pension respectively a retirement payment and who receive an income below the lower obligatory insurance limit. Starting from 2009 the basic tariff has assumed the function of social protection in old-age for new customers.
