Tularaemia

In terms of the Notifiable Infectious Diseases - data collection by Robert Koch Institute:
Tularaemia, also called rabbit fever, is caused by the bacterium Francisella tularensis. The infection can be via skin or mucosa contact with infectious animal materials (for example during skinning), by eating contaminated meat (hares) which wasn't heated sufficiently, or other foods or via the intake of infectious water or dust or via contact with infected bloodsucking parasites. The clinical picture depends on the access point of the pathogen and can be very diverse (for example ulceration at the access point, enlarged lympathic gands, lung inflammation). Without antibiotic treatment the mortality rate can amount to more than 30%.
