Cost-effectiveness obligation

An obligation anchored in Article 12 of the Code of Social Law (SGB V), obliging the insured, the service providers and the statutory health insurance institutions to provide adequate, expedient and cost-effective services of the statutory health insurance, which do not exceed the measure of necessity. The cost-effectiveness obligation was also a constituent of the former Imperial Insurance Ordinance.
