Persons insured in the statutory accident insurance
In terms of the Statutory Accident Insurance in Germany:The protection by the statutory accident insurance extends to a variety of groups in our society. The insurance relationships are separately recorded, also when a single person has multiple relationships. By far the largest group to which the accident insurance extends, are the employees and the persons equivalent to them. Additionally persons are insured, who meet their general reporting obligation according to the regulations of the labour promotion law ("Arbeitsförderungsrecht") (Drittes Buch Sozialgesetzbuch - SGB III). This applies to unemployed persons, who claim unemployment benefits and who after request personally report to the Agency of Labour or to an other place listed in the reporting request, or who appear to a medical or psychological appointment for examination. The persons insured include agricultural entrepreneurs, their spouses or life partners as well as their family members, who work in their business. The accident insurance protects also persons, who work in the interests of the common weal. This includes persons, who work in health care, in welfare, as well as in civil defence, especially persons, who work on an honorary basis. The accident insurance also protects persons during professional education and training. Even children are insured during their visits in certain day care centres (e.g. kindergarten, day nursery) and schoolchildren during their visits in general or vocational schools, as well as during the participation in supervision measures by the school or in cooperation with the school immediately before or after school lessons. Furthermore persons are insured, who contribute within the self-help in house building including the opening and cultivation of terrain, the repair of housekeeping facilities and the production of communal facilities, if by means of the building project publicly sponsored apartments will be created. Insured in the accident insurance are also persons during medical rehabilitation measures or during a preventive measure realised at the expense of the accident insurance institutions according to the occupational disease regulation. Also persons are insured against accidents, who visit a rehabilitation institution in preparation for benefits for participation in professional life on request of the institution or the like.
