Notifiable accident, Notifiable accident
In terms of the Statutory Accident Insurance in Germany:An accident is notifiable according to § 193 SGB VII, when a person insured is killed by an accident or injured so severely, that the person is unable to work for more than three days.
The three-day-period begins on the day after the accident and includes all calendar days, also Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. In cases when inability to work occurs later, e.g. if the state worsens, the period begins on the day after the occurrence of inability to work. If the requirements are fulfilled, the notifications by the victims, the reports by the specialists for occupational accidents ("Durchgangsarzt") as well as cases notified by health insurances are counted. The same applies to commuting accidents, these are accidents on the way to or from the place of an insured activity, which are equivalent to occupational accidents according to § 8 Abs. 2 no. 1 to 4 SGB VII.
