• The reported values are from 31 December of the respective reporting year.
• Starting from 2009 the number of family doctors ("Hausärzte") under contract to the health service includes also the employed medical practitioners. Previously this was not possible because of a lack of identification of these medical practitioners as family doctors.
• ¹⁾ Up to and including 1992 data are only available for the territory of the former Federal Republic of Germany.
